Manchester Together Family, in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, is pleased to invite members of the community to an important and impactful session focused on mental health awareness and support.
This event aims to create a safe, open, and supportive environment where individuals and families can learn, share experiences, and break down barriers surrounding mental health—particularly within the African community.
Event Theme
Understanding Mental Health in the African Community
Mental health remains a sensitive and often misunderstood topic in many communities. This session will explore the unique challenges faced within African communities, including cultural perceptions, stigma, and access to support services.
Sub-Theme
“Stressed and Emotionally Challenged Individuals Faced by Community Issues with a Focus on Children”
Special attention will be given to the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals dealing with stress caused by social and community pressures. The session will also highlight the importance of supporting children who may be silently affected by these challenges.
Key Focus
Stigma and Cultural Barriers
One of the main objectives of this session is to address the stigma surrounding mental health and the cultural barriers that often prevent individuals from seeking help. By encouraging open dialogue, we aim to promote understanding, acceptance, and access to support.
